Engine Bearings
Main Bearings/Connecting Rod Bearings

DON'T BE FOOLED! These are not standard ACL or Clevite Bearing. ACL also offers a race series which provides many advantages. Request only the race series bearings.

ACL Race bearings
Advantages:

1)Tri-metal engine bearings that are micro-fine machined for tight wall tolerance and have increased wall eccentricity for higher RPM

2)Connecting rod bearings have hardened steel backing which helps maintain their crush under higher load and temperature conditions during operation.

3)Tighter, and more consistent wall tolerances help maintain accurate clearances

4)Main bearing grooves occupy only 3/4 of the circumference thereby providing optimum oil supply while increasing the surface area for better load-carrying capacity.

5)Increased crush and the elimination of flash plating improve seating of bearings in their housing for better thermal transfer from bearings to rods and block.

SPECIAL NOTE:
Peak Performance's technical team strongly recommends the use of WPC treated bearings on SR20DET motors. We have found that the stock oil pump is quite weak especially under high horsepower conditions.

DRAG/Drift and Road Race customers may maintain their vehicle in a high RPM status for a long time. During this state, there have been instances where the oil pump can pump faster than the oil can drain. This may cause some oil starvation for brief periods of time. The WPC treated bearings will help save the motor during this rare conditions.

Technical Secrets:
The Peak race team would like to share some of our technical secrets found on our race vehicle mainly focusing on the factory oil pump. Due to the problems with the factory oil pump, we have experimented with many different oils.  We have tried multi-grade Redline synthetic, Royal Purple synthetic and even conventional oils like Penzoil and Valvoline. The problems we were encountering is that most cars race cars sit in staging lanes and cool down for long periods of time.  Instead of a proper warm-up, they start up cold, force full throttle performance and expect maximum protection.  Many of the standard shelf(non custom) oils do not offer the labeled viscosity protection until it reaches certain temperatures and because we couldn't warm up the oil properly we had a dilemma. As a result, we talked to an import expert, Kenny at Jotech Racing, who had similar experiences as a professional drag racer.  After contemplating with Kenny, he had a solution to our problem and that secret was the lubricant he was using. That lubricant is the Qracing oils.
