Peak Performance Nissan 240SX S14 Car Update 4/02/06 E-mail

Shortly after arriving in Los Angeles, Robbie "Speed Racer" Nishida was shuttled to the streets of Long Beach where he competed in the Formula D 2006 season opener in Long Beach, California on Sunday April 2nd, 2006. Robbie, suffering from jetlag, had no trouble securing the 9th qualifying position. Robbie's first elimination run would put him against long time rival Ken Gushi. On the first pass, Robbie was able to keep up with Gushi and drive a better line. On the second pass, however, Robbie ran into some transmission problems, giving Gushi the opportunity to pass. We're glad to report, however, that the 2.4 liter SR20DET is holding up well and the car has been dialed in and set up to Robbie's liking. Robbie is confident that his next effort will be a more noteable one. Stay tuned to your G4TV cable channel to catch Robbie Nishida's crowd inspiring drifting style behind the wheel of the Peak Performance/Falken Nissan 240SX S14. Stay tuned for more developments! <Read more>

After a grueling 2005, we've finally sorted out most of the issues involved when you build a car from the ground up. New to the team for 2006 is Robbie Nishida. He will be piloting the Peak Performance/Falken Nissan 240SX S14 for this season at all of the US drift events. At D1GP's season opener in Irwindale, California, Robbie's first time behind the wheel landed him the 24th position. We're confident Robbie will make us proud at the Formula D season opener in Long Beach, California. We've also picked up a couple new sponsors: NOS Energy Drinks and Advanced Clutch Technology (ACT). We'd also like to thank our current sponsors who have helped us get where we are today. Stay tuned for more updates.

We had our best showing yet at a Formula D event at this past weekend's Formula D Finals at Irwindale Speedway, CA. Peak Performance's driver, Ben Schwartz, was able to qualify 5th over all, out-drifting 15 other Formula D seeded drivers. Ben finished in the Top 8, ending the Formula D 2005 season with a strong determination to make an even greater showing in the 2006 season. To top if off, the 15,000+ spectators at Irwindale awarded the Peak Performance Nissan 240SX S14 Meguiar's Cleanest Drift Medallion Award. Thank you to all of our fans and supporters. Be on the look out for our car at future Formula D events and on the cover of DSport magazine at a newsstand near you!

Our Peak race car is running good at last.  Following a final tune up, the car will head back to the Formula D series.  The next stop, Soldier Field, Il.   Currently, we are running on the GT2971R motor and we will continue to do so.  The motor has been great for us on smaller tracks where turbo response is vital.  Stay tuned because we have not stopped for the 2005 season, we have a backup car with a different motor in progress.

Peak Performance is testing now for the 2006 Race season. Currently we have a backup chassis that we are working on. Pictures will be released soon. The team here is also working frantically on a big power motor that will be stroked and bored for maximum power out of the SR20DET powerplant. At that point, we will upgrade to the HKS GT3037 turbo kit. We hope to get this chassis ready by the 2005 Formula D finals in Irwindale, CA.
