Another heartbreaking qualification session ended Robbie Nishida's chance to pilot the Q Racing/Peak Performance 240SX S14 around the Soldier Field track in Chicago, the 3rd Formula D event of the 2006 season. After an all-night session of applying the new black and gold vinyl scheme on the fresh paint, Robbie seemed somewhat vexed at the slim possibility of introducing the new Vertex Ridge body kit to the unforgiving concrete barriers. As much as Team Manager Eddie Kim tried to convice Robbie that he was playing a vital role in testing the longevity and durability of our new body kit, Robbie played it conservatively. Unfortunately, he missed the top 16 qualifying cut-off by the thinnest of margins. Good news for our future appearance on the cover of a magazine, but not so good for Robbie and the team's ranking in Formula D points, dropping from the previous 16th spot down to the 20th spot. With some free track time scheduled at the end of June, Robbie should have more one-on-one time to get more intimately acquainted with the Q Racing/Peak Performance 240SX S14 before the next Formula D event to be held at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California on July 8th, 2006.
