After the competition in Long beach, the Peak Performance/Q Racing/Falken Nissan 240SX S14 suffered some mechanical difficulties that kept car and driver from being competitive in the last two Formula D Events. The team understands that even a perfectly running car has difficulty qualifying for the race and realized that the smallest bolt can keep you from victory. After fixing the mystery problem that plagued the team for two events, the car was ready to rock and roll. Robbie Nishida’s aggressive driving helped him qualify in the #2 position, gaining a spot in the Top 32 qualifier. The car and driver were in harmony and Robbie brought home a #13 finish, allowing him into the top 16 elimination round and a spot on ESPN in the fall. He was all set to battle #3 Bill Sherman from Enjuku Racing. And what a battle it was with Robbie chasing the first run flexing his Japan-seasoned touge skills with a 9-8 advantage over Bill. The second run however, brought bad luck with a small correction off the Seattle bank and led to a 2-5 disadvantage allowing Bill to move on to the next round. Despite not getting the opportunity to move onto the next round, the next event will lead Robbie and Team Peak Performance to Sonoma, California for the 5th round of the Formula Drift 2007 Championship. Here, Robbie Nishida will prove that he and the Peak Performance/Q Racing/Falken Nissan 240SX S14 are much better than the standings reflect. Once again we’d like to take this time to reflect on all the success of the team and give thanks to our great sponsors: Q Racing, Injen, NOS Energy Drinks, ACT Clutches, Apex'i USA, Sparco, Enkei, JE Pistons, Brian Crower, Meguiars, Vertex, TandE, KW Suspension, adaware.net, and last but definitely not least, Falken Tires. Watch for us on ESPN in November!
