Robbie Nishida, the 16th qualifier for the Formula Drift Las Vegas event, in Formula Drift fashion was paired up with Number 1 qualifier Tanner Foust in his AEM 350Z Z33. It was dubbed "The 350Z Race to End all 350Z Races" (not really, but it kind of sounds cool, right?). The Hankook Tires weren't the only thing sticky that night. Robbie was stuck to Tanner like white on rice.. like flies on.. well, you know. And with blistering 98 MPH entry speeds, Robbie Nishida turned out to be Tanner's nemesis. After the first tandem battle, Robbie actually scored higher than Tanner by 1 point. Being too close to call, the Judges requested a "One More Time". The Hankook/Peak Performance 350Z and Robbie turned out to be too much for the Tanner and his AEM 350Z and Robbie moved on to the Top 8. Some have said that it was the upset of the 2008 season. Some have even gone so far as to say that Tanner got smoked, even beaten silly. We wouldn't say THAT.. fact is, there was nothing silly about it =P. But we do believe this type of situation is what the term "sweet victory" was coined for. ![]() Hankook Peak Performance 350Z Z33 Our loveable driver Joon Maeng also qualified in the Top 16 of the Unseeded drivers. Although Joon executed a perfect drift on one of his qualifying runs, it was just shy of a Top 16 spot for the show. Joon made the most of his evening educating fans on the basics of drifting and Hankook Tires. With some more seat time, we're confident Joon will be making a strong showing in no time. ![]() Hankook Peak Performance 240SX S14 The Peak Performance/Dynamic Autosports/Gruppe-S family would like to thank all of our sponsors and fans for their continued support. We'll see you in Monroe, Washington for the 5th Round of the Formula Drift Pro Drift 2008 season. |
