Formula Drift Finals 2008 10/11/08

Robbie Nishida the Fearless proves once again that he is one of the world's best drifters. After securing a spot in the final event, Robbie Nishida was paired up with Max Oridio in the Project Mu Aristo. Out of the gates, Robbie initiated his drift early in tandem with Oridio in the lead. On the second pass, Robbie proved that the potent combination of a Brian Crower stroker kit and a Dynamic Autosports built and tuned Nissan VQ, plus the sticky Hankook tires, would outpower and outrun Orido's Aristo. Robbie moved on to the Great 8 and was pitted against Justin Pawlak in his Mazda RX7 FC. In what could be considered the closest battle of the night, Robbie and Justin went at it for 2 rounds (with the One More Time). Both times the judging favored Justin Pawlak's loose and wild style by one point.

However, with the turn of events, Robbie Nishida and Team Hankook/Dynamic Autosports have secured an invitation to the Red Bull World Finals on November 15-16 in Long Beach, CA. Furthermore, Robbie and Team end the season in the #10 seeded position, giving Robbie an early start on another attempt at the Formula Drift Championship in 2009.

The Team would like to thank all of their sponsors and fans for the unlimited and unwavering support. We'll see you at Long Beach!

Formula Drift Seattle Live Update 8/9/08 7:20PM

Just to get you loyal fans up to speed, Joon Maeng qualified #6 out of the Unseeded drivers but wasn't able to pull off a Top 16 qualifying spot. Robbie Nishida, Seeded #14 after Las Vegas, was able to drift his way to the #4 qualifying spot out of the Top 16.

In the first round, Robbie Nishida was paired up with Justin Pawlak.Robbie beats Justin with a two-round combined score of 13 vs. Justin's 11. In the second round, Robbie Nishida went up against Ryan Tuerck. Ryan spins during one of his runs (in the rain!) and ends the round with combined score of 6. Robbie Nishida moves on to the Top 4 with a combined score of 14!.

In the Top 4 round, Robbie Nishida was paired up with Sam Hubinette in his fearsome Viper. With years of ice racing experience, Sam was apparently unphased by the rain and ended up taking the round with a score of 16 versus Robbie's 12.

In the Consolation Round, Robbie faced off with rival Tanner Foust. Tanner spins on his second run, handing a 3rd place podium finish to Robbie.

Congratulations to Robbie Nishida and Team Hankook Tire/Peak Performance on their 3rd place victory. Robbie has now secured his spot in the Red Bull Invitational in Long Beach this coming November.

Formula Drift Las Vegas 2008 07/12/2008

Robbie Nishida, the 16th qualifier for the Formula Drift Las Vegas event, in Formula Drift fashion was paired up with Number 1 qualifier Tanner Foust in his AEM 350Z Z33. It was dubbed "The 350Z Race to End all 350Z Races" (not really, but it kind of sounds cool, right?). The Hankook Tires weren't the only thing sticky that night. Robbie was stuck to Tanner like white on rice.. like flies on.. well, you know. And with blistering 98 MPH entry speeds, Robbie Nishida turned out to be Tanner's nemesis. After the first tandem battle, Robbie actually scored higher than Tanner by 1 point. Being too close to call, the Judges requested a "One More Time". The Hankook/Peak Performance 350Z and Robbie turned out to be too much for the Tanner and his AEM 350Z and Robbie moved on to the Top 8. Some have said that it was the upset of the 2008 season. Some have even gone so far as to say that Tanner got smoked, even beaten silly. We wouldn't say THAT.. fact is, there was nothing silly about it =P. But we do believe this type of situation is what the term "sweet victory" was coined for.

Our loveable driver Joon Maeng also qualified in the Top 16 of the Unseeded drivers. Although Joon executed a perfect drift on one of his qualifying runs, it was just shy of a Top 16 spot for the show. Joon made the most of his evening educating fans on the basics of drifting and Hankook Tires. With some more seat time, we're confident Joon will be making a strong showing in no time.

The Peak Performance/Dynamic Autosports/Gruppe-S family would like to thank all of our sponsors and fans for their continued support. We'll see you in Monroe, Washington for the 5th Round of the Formula Drift Pro Drift 2008 season.

Formula Drift Round 4: Las Vegas Update 07/11/2008

Just a quick update: Robbie Nishida and Joon Maeng qualified in the Top 16 of the Unseeded drivers. This guarantees the Hankook/Peak Performance Team a chance at qualifying for the Top 16 tomorrow. Robbie Nishida, apparently feeling good in the Las Vegas heat, came out blazing (henceforth he will be known as Del Fuego). He qualified #1 of the Unseeded and and the HIGHEST ENTRY SPEED at 98 MPH. Not to talk smack, but for comparison, Orido in his Aristo had a low 90 MPH entry speed (ok, maybe a little smack talking). More updates to follow.
